charity pillowcases

This month at my work  we have been asked to make pillow cases for charity, so here are my first attempts I will no doubt make many more through out the month, they are so quick and easy and just thinking that they are going to be going to homeless and foster children is all the more reason to get creative and make heaps of them to donate.  Any one interested in participating , you have till the end of March  to pick up a pattern and dropped them of at your local Spotlight store.

I know some little girl will love these fairies.

Easter

Just sharing some pictures of what Brianna and i have been up to this weekend.

This bunny didn’t last very long.  I think Brianna has eaten so much chocolate she could almost burst.

We had the most beautiful weather this weekend,  So I decided to do some more painting and finish off some overdue projects from the shed.  I am on a mission !!!!  finish or give away, anything that doesn’t serve a purpose is gone.  I may as well give it to someone that will use it instead of it cluttering up the shed.  I have done really well considering !!

Brianna had a great time mixing chalk and water.

This kept her busy while I painted and even Roxy got involved in the action.   We had  a good opportunity too chat about all sorts of things, it was fun just spending the  afternoon together.

On Saturday we had the pleasure of going to Bella’s 3rd birthday, the theme for the party was  “animals”,  all of the kids dress up and they looked so cute.  Here are some pic ‘s of the birthday girl and her little sister Ruby.

This is the cake the talented Melissa made for Bella,  great job !!  We had a lovely time at the sugar world playground,  the weather was beautiful and so was the party.

Yippee I have the next five days off work,  Can’t wait to wake up in the morning and start them….Firstly I will join my girls (chooks)   in the garden for a cuppa tea, I know the two cats and dog will meet me there once they have finished there dinner. And just sit and enjoy the fresh morning air, get a little bit of sunshine and just wake up slowly.

Brianna and I have  an eye appointments in the morning…I know he is going to tell me I need glasses.  Then sushi train has $3.00 plates of sushi all day tomorrow to celebrate their 4th year anniversary, YUM  !!   I can’t wait.

Then later in the arvo  I ‘am going to see  “ Arthur”  the movie,  with the ladies from my sewing group……Sushi and a movie what a way to spend the night…

Can’t wait to see the look on Brianna’s face on Easter morning.  Sad that I can’t give Ryan his bunny , oh well never mind he will just have to wait…..

I miss this little face

 

She stole my heart, and I miss her dearly…there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of the special time we had when she lived with us,  Scarlett bought laughter and smiles to a family that had not laughed out loud in a long time…She taught us about patience, tolerance and how to love again, how to laugh and how to get in touch with our inner child… ….We were so blessed to have her a part of our family while she was staying with us… we love you little precious one, and can’t wait to see you and your beautiful mother Amy again hopefully in June.   Hugs and kisses to you both .

Neil Diamond

Last month I was lucky enough to be able to fly to the Gold Coast and see Neil Diamond live…OMG he was amazing.  Eleven and a half thousand  people were there at the Brisbane entertainment centre, the atmosphere was awesome.  I went with a good friend Tina, we had a blast, we both grew up with his music.

The five days I stayed with Tina and her family were very memorable, her mum was visiting at the time, what a nice lady !   she attempted to show Tina and I  how to crochet (I 'am trying to remember how to do it ha ha ) and then  they introduced me to the Butterfly loom.  It’s and amazing little gadget.   I was luck enough to be taken to a scrapbooking warehouse, a huge spotlight store, the Robina shopping centre and a trip to Surfers paradise.  We had a great holiday …Thanks Tina and Shane xo

While there Tina took us to a shop called Build a Bear, so Brianna begged me to make one, so of course I caved in and this is her Bear that she created……..Brianna called her Cupcake”.

This was my choice of wool,  baby pink and white baby parade and Cinderella from spotlight, it is so soft and cuddly,  I love it.

Ashleigh discovered it the last week and was hooked, while she was home a couple of days she made 10 squares, she found it very relaxing, so she is coming over tomorrow to look after Bree so I ‘am going to leave it out for her to keep going while I ‘am at work….smart hey !  ha ha.

Busy Bee….17 April 2011

Well I have been sewing my but off,  I’am trying to finish quilting a whole stack of small laptop size quilts that I started making years ago.  They have been sitting in the cupboard waiting for me to get my sewing bug back….so here they are.

So that’s three out of the way…about 5 more to go….a couple are to big for me to quilt and will have to be sent away to be quilted.

I also made myself a laptop pouch last night while I had some ladies over for sewing……

Now  I challenged my brain for this one…I made it without a pattern so I had to stop and think a few times , but in the end it all came together thankfully.    I’am very happy with the end result, Brianna has already put in her order for a vintage laptop bag…..I love it that my 10yr old loves vintage, just like her mum…..that makes me happy.  :)

I also whipped up a pencil roll for a friends little girl, Bella will  be having her birthday next weekend, she also has asked for one of my owls.

I know she will love them.

Last week I attempted to make these fabric baskets and also I have been wanting to  make one of these fabric hearts….so I did !!!

This is a little critter that I was asked to make from a picture, its a bunny I think, I’am almost finished him,  just put him on the backburner for a while

 

Brianna and I were at our local quilting shop last week and saw a beautiful cushion that we both feel in love with, so we checked it out closely and bought the fabrics we needed came home and made it up exactly the same…..she loves it !

So there you go,  when I get the sewing bug there is nothing stopping me….I just hope it stays for awhile so I can get plenty of UFO’S finished.
